Puzzle 3: Dwayne’s Ducks

January 2, 2025

Welcome back and happy New Year! Are you getting the hang of puzzling yet? As always, please contact me if you have questions or noticed a mistake. You can also leave comments at the bottom of each post.

The next entry is based on Numberlink. Dwayne Roberts has quite the collection of ducks in his pool, but several pairs have been separated from their companions. To reunite them, he must trace a path for each pair without allowing any to overlap. The rules for this puzzle are as follows:

  • Draw continuous lines between ducks of the same color. Lines cannot branch off or cross over each other.
  • The ducks must fall at the end of each line (i.e., not in the middle).
  • Every square on the grid must be filled.

The pictures below depict a sample puzzle on a 5×5 grid, along with its solution. The colored squares represent the lines connecting each pair of ducks.

Now, can you solve the puzzle below and help Dwayne reunite his ducks?

The solution will be released in the next blog post. Also, if you tried the puzzle from the last blog entry, here is its solution below. Any luck?

Cute duckies. My brain cant keep track of all the lines that are draw so I ended up using my finger to draw on my computer monitor. But I figured out that I can use the smudge prints to check my work to make sure I comply with the rules. Looking forward to next month when I can check the answer.
