The Hollowed Chisel

“A good detective must treat every setting, no matter how plain or luxurious, as the potential backdrop for a crime.”

Apprentice detective Marty Watts was supposed to have the day off. His invitation to a cruise on Lake Eele promised plenty of summer fun, including a live-action show and a high-stakes auction. Trouble arises, however, when an item from the auction is vandalized beyond repair; without his mentor Sherman Hoakes to take the reins, Marty must solve the mystery on his own. And that’s not the only trouble brewing, both on and offboard…

Join Marty and his costars in the second big adventure of the Detective Watts series. Besides the usual crew, you’ll meet a brooding physics student, a sheltered marble sculptor, and the extraordinary CEO of the electronics company Netmore. Once again, you’ll need to dive into the past to understand the present — and beware, for an even greater foe is lurking in the shadows.

Can you solve the mystery of the hollowed chisel?

Another captivating entry in the Detective Watts series. I do hope the reader forgives my moodiness on account of sleep deprivation; a detective must never forego a good night’s rest, for it can have disastrous effects on his temperament.

Parts of this story were difficult for me to relive, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It was fun to see how Marty met his new pal Eve; she became a bit of a celebrity at the police department, and there was no shortage of affection for her.

TERRIBLE!!! When will be it my time to shine, hm? I’d just like one moment in these books where I succeed with no strings attached. I’ve sent the author plenty of good ideas to celebrate me, but I never hear back. Won’t somebody help a man out?
